Twin Cedar’s Senior Living is a residence that your loved one can really call home.
Our warm, residential setting offers the 24 hour supervision and care our residents require, providing you with peace of mind knowing your loved one is safe, well cared for and happy. We are a country home, not an institution.
With a capacity for only 35 residents, Twin Cedars is small enough to ensure individualized 24/7 care, but large enough to offer your loved one a variety of senior companions. We truly offer a family home environment. Members of our staff strive to maintain our resident’s independence and preserve their dignity at all times. With the stability and longevity of our staffing team comes continuity of care and staff familiarity with all residents so they can promptly spot any changes and alert family and medical professionals. At Twin Cedar’s we meet the needs of the elderly with care, compassion and commitment.
When you commit to bring your loved one to Twin Cedars, we will assure the highest level of independent functioning and quality of life for your relative. You will have worry-free peace-of-mind, knowing you made the best possible decision. You may stay closely involved with your loved one, visiting anytime, or take your loved one out or home with you for the day or night. Keeping our resident’s physically active and socializing with each other, is a priority at Twin Cedars, as none of our residents are left in their rooms during the day.
Our Owner/Licensed Administrator actually lives on site and is available for any concerns the residents or their family members might have, or for any medical emergencies. Our Owner is also available to provide back up assistance to on-duty staff 24/7 and pops in regularly to ensure that operations are running smoothly. Family members will see the Owner hands-on around the community during “off” hours as families feel comforted knowing that the Owner is keeping a close eye on their loved ones. If your loved one is hospitalized, our Administrator will be visiting him/her to ensure a safe and appropriate return back home, as soon as possible.
Twin Cedar’s is a licensed personal care home and is regulated by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare. Due to our accredited licensing, most long term care insurance providers will cover the costs of our community for your loved one if you are a policy holder.
We are an affordable choice, and roughly 20% less than our competitors in the area. We do not sacrifice quality of care due to our lower pricing. At Twin Cedars we offer the best care at the best price!
The History of Twin Cedars
In 1939, Max and Leona Otto arrived in the USA from Germany and purchased the land that Twin Cedar’s is built on. The Otto’s were farmers and lived in a 13 room farm house on the property while utilizing their land as a dairy farm. The Otto’s raised animals and harvested blueberries on the land surrounding their farm. In 1949, their farmhouse burnt down in the middle of the night and the Otto’s managed to escape unharmed. With no place else to go, the Otto’s moved their family into the stockyard butchery adjacent to the dairy barn. Over time they converted the butchery into acceptable living quarters and raised their family.
Max and Leona Otto’s daughter, Linda, grew up on the farm and eventually married Bruce Harding. Linda had grown up caring for her grandmother in their home and pursued a career in nursing, and her husband Bruce became a nursing home Administrator. Their vision together was to create a loving home environment where people would be cared for through their loving hands with the highest quality of care.
Twin Cedar’s was built through Bruce and Linda’s religious prayer over a nineteen year period of time and through the donations and assistance of many friends and neighbors in the community. The Harding’s were convinced their land was blessed and members of the community donated their time to assist in the design, construction and interior aesthetics of the facility.
In 1990, phase one of Twin Cedar’s was constructed. The original dairy barn still stands today as the activity center, and the old silo foundation is buried beneath it’s floor. The original milk house is now the Administrator’s office. The resident’s bedrooms, living and dining rooms were built in the dairy farm’s night pasture. In 2000, a new wing was added to Twin Cedar’s to accommodate ten additional resident bedrooms.
In 2010, the Harding’s decided they wanted to retire and sell Twin Cedar’s after 22 years. Instead of listing Twin Cedar’s with a real estate broker, they went to church and prayed for 30 days for a buyer. On the thirtieth day, a letter arrived in the mail to the Harding’s at Twin Cedar’s from a young lady who wished to buy the facility and was inquiring if the Harding’s wanted to sell. The Harding’s were convinced that this young lady was sent from God to purchase the facility and to continue their vision and lifelong commitment to caring for seniors. In July, 2011 Ms. Tamara Singer took ownership of Twin Cedar’s.
